During the making of this project, I worked as the Lead narrative designer and Programmer. How the story unfold or how the gameplay reveal a part of the story is what I did during the project, every characters details, dialogues, and how the mechanic tell the story to the player were all made by me. I also worked on the interface and menu of the game. The hardest part about this project is that this is my first time working on a project of this scale while collaborating with the game designer in order to fully deliver the experience of the game.

Lead Narrative Designer Responsibility

  • Create a story, character and their background and design the interaction between characters from the beginning to the end.

  • Design how the main mechanic can explore the story of each characters in the game.

Programmer Responsibility

  • Create the interface of the main menu and the in-game interface.

Narrative Design

Design the story of the game and all of the characters in the story along with their background before passing their information to the artist. Make a spread sheet about the economy of the game with the consideration of the pacing of the player and the story of the game to reinforce the gameplay and the intensity in the game.

All 10 days in the game were made by me by taking the consideration of the pacing of the gameplay with the overall economy design. Each days will offer something that keep the attention of the player from leaving the game, from characters or pictures in the game, to all of the dialogue that they are speaking.

Main menu

Developed the main menu and the in-game interface from the design taken from the UI designer to create a memorable atmosphere before and after playing the game.

Gameplay Images

Retrospective

What Went Well

Hidden detail: Players doesn't need to fully know the story to understand the core story of the game but if the player look more closely in the game, details will be reveal to them, rewarding a more immersive experience.

Story through images: Images in the game were able to explain what kind of personality the person hold, this were used to tell the player about the characteristic of each character in the game.

What did I received

Narrative experience: I learnt how to better organize how the narration in the game work and how to make the narration co-exist with the design of the game.

Character background: Having to create multiple characters with different background while having a connection with each others is truly an enjoyable experience when designing each of them.
