In this project, I decided to use a movie called TRON as a base for the game art style. The focus of the design is to make the player feel good when they see neon laser shooting at each other so this is what I came up with, an RTS game with capture the flag mode where the player can call in various units with different abilities and stat to help destroy the opposition. This project is my final project from IDD122 COMPUTER GRAPHIC FOR GAME DESIGNER class. The requirement for this project is to create a 3D game that can fully show the animated model in the scene.
Design Process
Before I started to work on Unity, I created a design document. Firstly, I listed out possible ideas for the game, there are many good ideas but I want to try to make an RTS game so I go with making a real-time strategy game. After that, I wrote general information about the game followed by the requirement that the game must have at the end of the process and finished it by listing out a desired feature in the game.
After the initial process is completed, I started working on the prototype of the game, there aren't any neon aesthetic during the prototype because the focus here is the key feature listed before.

After the initial features were completed, I added a small touch, a neon aesthetic, to the game to make it look cool and then create an emissive texture for everything in the game to make the neon and laser shooting feel good to hear or see and to make it feel like a retro sci-fi game.

End Result Gameplay
The end result is a real-time strategy game with various unit types and each with its own strength.
Retrospective
What Went Well
Aesthetic and Feel: The game reminds many players about many old retro sci-fi movies and the feeling from looking at the unit or texture in the game feels like a good old retro video game.
Depth: The game health and armor pentation formula bumps up the game depth and creates more playstyle.
What did I receive
Strategy Design: I have learned what is good for strategy games and the many types of strategy games on the market.
Simple Aesthetic: Having a simple art direction in the game can also result in a meaningful way just like a fully complex art style but to make it work, the design decision needs to match the direction of the style as well.
